ALES is situated on the Gardon d’Alès River, at the foot of the Cévennes mountains, north-northwest of Nîmes.

Ales has been occupied for many years and is is the Gard department’s second largest town with a population of just over 40,000. It is a lively place with tree lined streets and open air restaurants. In summer there are many festivals and the theater has some great shows and concerts.
