Built on a rocky hilltop, is the only fortified town
in Europe still inhabitated. The medieval town of
Carcassonne is one of France's most popular
and frequently visited attractions.
The beautiful walled town with it's ancient narrow
cobbled streets is dominated by it's picturesque
castle and 52 pointed turrets.
There are three parts to the town: the walled city,
the medieval town and the suburbs, incorporating
13th century streets, lively cafes, restaurants and
markets.
The Canal du Midi and The River Aude run along
side this magnificent town.

wines.
