MIDI PYRENEES

The name chosen for this region was decided by the French government is based purely on geography: Midi ( ("southern regions") - Pyrénées (Pyrénées mountains that are the southern limit of the region). The name of the inhabitants of the region is: Midi-Pyrénéen.

The Midi Pyrenees is the largest region of metropolitan France by area, larger than the Netherlands or Denmark. Midi-Pyrénées occupies a strategic position between the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean.

Midi-Pyrenees is located between the Mediterranean and Atlantic coasts and is influnenced by both. It can't be classed as either Mediterranean or Atlantic rather it is more a blend of the two with the aspect of the Pyrenees mountain life added to the mix.
