PERPIGNAN is situated north of the Pyrenees and was once the capital city of the Counts of Roussillon and the Kings of Majorca. Perpignan is the Capital of Catalan Culture. Perpignan is located on the ancient Roman Road (Via Domitia) . There are a huge variety of places to visit including "Lose de Mer", a beautiful 14th century Gothic building and the 15th century palace, "Palais de La Députation". Perpignan Airport is located in the town of Rivesaltes 6 kilometers/4 miles north of the city of Perpignan. There is also great access inclusding the new LGV Perpignan-Figueres, the international high speed rail line between France and Spain. In heart of the town of Perpignan tree lined streets are adorned with fantastic shops, restaurants and cafes with their mouth watering menus. A visit you won't forget. Perpignan is a producer of wine, olive oil and corks!
Nearby Roman Attraction : Visit The Roman Bridge in St Thibery, crossing the River Herault. It is the longest bridge of the old Roman Road (Via Domitia) linking Rome to Spain.
