Haute Couture fashion show takes place in Paris twice a year in January ( Spring/Summer
Collection) and July (Autumn/Winter Collection).Haute Couture is the best and
most exclusive work the top French fashion houses produce. Not every fashion
house creates Haute Couture. The majority of the top French designers such as
Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent for Yves St Laurent and John Galliano
for Dior produce Haute Couture.
Extensive work goes into the creation of an Haute Couture garment. Evening dresses
with embroidery can take around 1000 hours of manual work. French Haute Couture
Houses of the present include Coco Chanel, Pierre Balmain, Hubert de Givenchy,
Christian Dior, Louis Féraud, Yves Saint Laurent, Emanuel Ungaro, Jean-Louis
Scherrer, Jean Paul Gaultier and Christian Lacroix.
