The local volcano "Mount Ramus" offers some magnificent views of the Languedoc, Midi, the Pyrenees mountains and the Mediterranean Sea with Spain in the distance.
In the village itself there are some interesting volcanic features such as the basalt “organ” columns - the result of cooling of a lava flow, after an eruption of Mount Ramus, about 650,000 years ago.
There is an ancient fort, dating from the 5th Century BC, built on these basalt “organ” columns the heart of the village. It overlooks the village and the Herault River Valley and the mountains of Espinouse with the majestic Caroux, the Pic de Vissou, the foothills of Larzac, Mont St Baudille ... the Mount Ramus and all the surrounding villages.
Part of the volcano has also become home to the popular sport of Motocross, with several competitions during the year!
